Consecration of Juno Lodge No. 10001

On a crisp Saturday in October 2021, after almost three years of hard work and waiting, due to covid restrictions, a new masonic lodge was consecrated at the Beverley Road Masonic Hall in Hull, to be known as, the Juno Lodge.

The founders are a keen group of local brethren set for Juno to be the Province’s champion of the University Scheme. The Scheme itself is a pioneering attempt by the United Grand Lodge of England to help and support the many students and other young people who are seeking to become involved in Freemasonry but who may not know where to begin. Juno Lodge aims to make Freemasonry more accessible to university students, academics, alumni, and staff who would like to engage and enjoy the precepts of Freemasonry but struggle due to studies, family, and career pressures.

On Saturday, 23rd October 2021 the Juno Lodge No.10001 was consecrated by R.W.Bro. Jeffrey Gillyon, Provincial Grand Master of the Province of Yorkshire North and East Riding and His Team of Officers at the Masonic Hall, Beverley Road, Hull. The brethren were also joined by University Scheme Committee members R. W. Bro James Hilditch PGM (Oxfordshire) (Chairman), W. Bro Peter Hughes AGPur, and W. Bro. Dr Jonathan Lippiat AGDC.

The main event, the Consecration ceremony, was delivered by the Consecration Team with flair in what was a beautifully conducted ceremony as W. Bro. Benjamin Rose PPSGW, ProvReg was placed in the Chair of King Solomon and proceeded to appoint his officers of the year. Following the meeting, a spectacular Festive Board, including the pink custard for pudding, was held and the brethren in attendance experienced a musical treat by the Provincial Choir under the direction of W. Paul Cegla ProvGOrg. Amongst the formal toasts W. Bro. Stanley Liu PPSGD responded on behalf of the visitors with a ditty that brought much smiles and laughter.

Those in attendance joined together and delighted in a memorable and lively day, as Juno now joins the University Scheme family as well as the Province of Yorkshire North and East Riding.
